A WANT SO WICKED by SUZANNE YOUNG

A Want So Wicked written by Suzanne Young will be published by Balzer+Bray on June 26, 2012 and has 288 pages that flew by! This is the second book in A Need So Beautiful series.

Elise is a normal seventeen-year-old girl until the day she wakes up in a desert park, with no idea who she is.

After that episode, her life takes a bizarre turn. She’s experiencing unexpected flashes of insight into people’s lives—people she’s never met before. Strangers frighten her with warnings about the approaching Shadows. And although Elise has never had a boyfriend, she suddenly finds herself torn between two handsome but very different young men: Abe, the charming bad boy whose affect on her both seduces and frightens her, and the mysterious Harlin, who’s new to town but with whom Elise feels an urgent, elemental connection—almost as if they are soul mates.

Now Elise begins to question everything about her life. Why do these guys both want her so desperately? What are the Shadows? Why does the name Charlotte inspire a terrifying familiarity? And who is Elise, really?

THE FAERYS VIEW

A Want so Wicked is the second book in A Need So Beautiful Series by Suzanne Young. The opening program shows us a girl who wakes up and has no idea who she is, through her POV she finds herself in a dry desert and finds a mirror-like surface that shows her at once being blonde-a face she recognizes then a brunette, not so recognizable and then the blonde again and finally settling on the brunette. She walks on and that’s the end of the prologue. To me it was self-explanatory, it was Charlotte from A Need So Beautiful or at least that’s how I wanted to interpret it!

This brings us to the story of Elise, her older sister Lucy and their father who’s a Pastor. Their relationship is fantastic and often a hoot, especially with Lucy who loves to tease her father about boys and dates, feminine monthlies etc… Elise starts to notice strange things, shadows at the scenes of accidents that nobody else can see along with the fact that she feels the need to help at accidents and emergencies but not compelled, per se. Elise is also having bizarre flash backs involving a blonde haired girl, feelings of recognition and then she meets the local psychic who at first scares the crap outta her but then she realizes she needs to visit her where she tells her stories of the Forgotten and the Shadows and that Elise is caught smack dab in the middle of it-only has a special mission...a role to play in it all.

To top it off, she has two guys in her life-the first guy is Abe who she meets at the restaurant she works at. He’s a bit snarky, suave and way to good looking for his or her own good. Then there’s Harlin, the very definition of hotness-rides in on his Harley to save the day and Elise is torn between the two.

Elise learns all too quickly about shadows and with the help from old friends from her past, she can see now what her part is between the Shadows and the Forgottens.

Suzanne Young had me at A Need So Beautiful but she really got me at A Want So Wicked. Her unique twist on a different genre makes this series so unforgettable and so hard to put down. Suzanne’s character portrayals are so emotional and entertaining at the same time. A Want So Wicked is the literary version of the best bath scrub n’ bubbles in the world; A Want So Wicked---Take me Away!

THE FAERY SAYS THAT A WANT SO WICKED BY SUZANNE YOUNG MAKE MY WINGS GO A’FLUTTER!

  3. Oh I like a different take on the YA genre. I'm one of the few that don't mind a good love triangle as long as it is written well. Plus, you say it has snark. You know I must read this one now. LOL

Hope you are feeling well, Ms. Fairy!
