Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvey

Stolen Away by www.alyxandraharvey.com/ was published on January 18, 2012 by Walkers Childrens and imprint of Bloomsbury Kids and has 288 pages of glorious Faery Fun!
For seventeen years, Eloise Hart had no idea the world of Faery even existed. Now she has been abducted and trapped in the Rath of Lord Strahan, King of Faery. Strahan was only meant to rule for seven years, as Faery tradition dictates, and then give up his crown to another. But he won't comply, and now chaos threatens both worlds.

The only one who can break his stranglehold on the Faery court is his wife. . . Eloise's aunt Antonia. Using Eloise to lure Antonia, Strahan captures his wife, desperate to end the only threat to his reign. Now Eloise must become the rescuer. Together with her best friends Jo and Devin, she must forge alliances with other Fae, including a gorgeous protector named Lucas, and Strahan's mysterious son, Eldric-who may or may not betray them.

THE FAERYS VIEW

Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvey was everything I thought it would be plus it had Faeries! BONUS! This is one book I couldn’t wait to get my hands on and I’m so glad I did because this romp within the realm was fantastic.

Ms. Harvey wrote Stolen Away in two person POV, told by two best friends: Eloise and Jo. Eloise is the ‘Main Character’ but Jo is just as much featured. Eloise and Jo couldn’t be more different; while Eloise chooses a more laid back style, Jo is into lace skirts and blouses but they are very much in sync with each other and truer friends are hard to find.

Eloise has no idea that she has any tie with the Fae until she is abducted by the Unseelie King where she learns it is really about her favorite wacky aunt Antonia. Jo, faithful friend is captured as well in an attempt to rescue Eloise. What ensues is love in the land of the Fey, war and I must admit some wacky hilarity.

There’s so much more to this story then I’ve included but it’s those delicious little (and some big) parts that make this book such a winner for me. I’ll leave those bits for you to savor as you come across them. Ms. Harvey is a wonderful weaver of words and I whipped through Stolen Away in a day-say that 5 times without stuttering!

Ms. Harvey's narrative was flawless and delivered beautifully, never skipping a beat; keeping the action pitch perfect while maintaining a realistic and often fun interplay between the characters. Ms. Harvey also shows a masterful skill with the fantastical; her portrayal of the Unseelie Realm was worded beautifully, I found myself completely engrossed in the world she created! I adored the ‘love’ interests for each girl and this was one time where the battle didn’t completely bore me. Stolen Away is hopefully one in a series and I, for one, cannot wait until the next book!

THE FAERY SAYS IT SET MY WINGS A' FLUTTER!

  1. I liked this book and the dual perspectives, but I wish that the author had taken more time in spots. There were places that it felt a little rushed.

  2. This is such a great review, totally agree with you about Alyxandra Harvey's writing style, it's SO witty and snappy and pacy. However I do agree with the previous blogger, I felt it could have been a liiiiittle bit longer.
