THE FAERYS VIEW
I absolutely adore The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. I knew in my heart when that series was finished that Richelle would do a spin-off on one of the secondary characters before the word got around, I mean, the whole Vampire Academy World is just to FANTASTIC to leave off with Rose and Dmitri’s story. Bringing in Sydney for Bloodlines was brilliant!
I’m not going to re-hash the synopsis, as this has already been done but I will say is that I am truly in love with Adrian Ivashkov-he is hilarious and heartfelt! I loved all of the old characters brought back into the story and enjoyed meeting the new ones. Sydney was one of my favs from the VA series because she broke all the rules of her sector by doing what she knew to be right and I admired her for that. In Bloodlines we see a different part of her, sure she’s still serious, smart and dedicated but we see her snarky side, too-this girl can trade snarks with Adrian like nobody else.
All of the characters are step off the page realistic as is true Richelle style and some of the new characters have yet to prove themselves trustworthy to me. You just never know who to trust in a Richelle Mead story and Bloodlines is no different!
The plot is convoluted and brilliant leading us into the next book, The Golden Lily, which I cannot wait to get my hands on. It’s not necessary to read The Vampire Academy Series but I’d recommend it, first for the pure enjoyment of it and second, there’s references in Bloodlines to the VA series. Not enough to be confusing but it definitely enhances the book. It’s a great way to get to know Adrian better!
THE FAERY SAYS THIS IS ONE SERIES YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS!
